The Scholastic Art Awards is an important program that honors our student artists. Without artists, our nation is deprived of unique creativity and innovation that drives us forward in new ways of seeing the world and functioning in society. By encouraging our young artists you show value for their creative voice, ideas and their potential to reflect/affect society. “..the future of a healthy society starts with the kinds of opportunities we provide for our youth” --Beth Harrison, Scholastic Art & Writing
The Scholastic organization is non-profit run on student fees, volunteers and donations. Locally we operate on a small budget to promote the program, stage the exhibition and hold the awards ceremony. We also try to help students with entry fees and travel to the national awards ceremony when our students win a national award.
Our needs include: 1. Funding for our exhibition and ceremony (signs, programs, display materials) 2. Funding for our awards publication and poster 3. Volunteers for hanging and taking down the exhibition 4. Materials for or help with matting student 2D Art 5. Scholarships or prizes (named scholarship or specially selected work/student for an award) 6. Travelling funds for national winners
Our sponsors for our 2019 awards include: Central Oregon Community College Art Department, Pacific Northwest College of Art, OSU JumpstART summer program, the Oregon Potter's Association, Marylea Harris Scholarship, and Premier Printing of Bend, OR.
Contributions and support for the Central Oregon Scholastic Art program are greatly appreciated. Please contact our Scholastic coordinator Susan Shayegi if you would like to help out with this great program. Susan Shayegi [email protected]
